Have you been cheating on your diet?? Sneaking in bites here n there? Do you treat yourself to junk food after a week of hard work or approach weekends w/ a different mindset?
Look I get it. I used to feel “guilty” when I would eat outside of my super clean diet. When I had an “off track meal” … I’d continue spiraling down the ‘off track’ road.
🔄In my head, if I messed up even the slightest bit, I felt like a failure.
🔄when I felt like a failure, I’d follow up my actions with more of the same (junk food).
It’s the vicious cycle. But today, I want to show you how to get out:
1️⃣If you have an off track meal, just follow it up with a healthier one. No two “off-meals” in a row.
2️⃣Make a list of the things you LOVE eating. Then, find ways to make them a bit healthier and start eating them regularly.
When you love the meals you eat, you will NEVER need to “cheat” on your diet again.
Because your diet will just be your favorite foods!!
It’s sounds so simple. And that’s because it is.
But us humans love to overcomplicate shit.
Let’s make unattainable standards and then when we fuck up, let’s beat ourselves up!
GIRLLLL NO MORE OF THAT!
🧀🍜EXAMPLE: you love Mac n cheese. BUT you know it’s high in calories and makes you feel lethargic after.
▪️SOLUTION: use a whole wheat or plant-based pasta (chickpea or lentil or w/e you like) to reduce the simple carb crash, use non-fat or low-fat cheese, & add in 1-2 servings of veggies and a palmful of protein.
▪️You just turned a “bad” meal into a health-I-fied meal that will leave you feeling FULL, SATISFIED AND FEELIN GOOD AFTER!
All foods can be consumed in moderation as part of a healthy diet, even high calorie foods! They just need be controlled b/c it is easier to overeat these foods.
Eating “clean” 100% of the time is not realistic, not attainable & will definitely come back to bite you in the butt!
I invite you to give yourself permission to start enjoying the foods you love. Start SMALL. Add in the thing you miss the most 2-3x a week.
A MANTRA FOR YOU: “I find ways to make healthier versions of my favorite foods. I can always have this again & have more later”
